LAUGH OUT LOUD, the multi-platform comedy brand founded by Kevin Hart, is looking for a Creative Director to join our team of creatives working to get the world laughing together.

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative designer and leader with impeccable taste, bold design sensibility, attention to detail, solid understanding of design principles, and a high level of design skills across platforms to help build, develop, and maintain the visual integrity of the LOL brand. The right candidate for this job is a conceptual and innovative designer with deep knowledge in the areas of branding, marketing, motion design, and social media. S/he will be charged with leading the visual brand identity of LOL; serving as design + creative lead for style guides, keyart, merchandising and branding, series concepts, industry ads, presentation decks, partnership mockups, social media assets, and more. This position will assist in translating Laugh Out Loud’s unique characteristics and qualities into branding and packaging programs and other requests as needed by each division. The Creative Director will work across all departments—marketing, production, and business development—to ensure that LOL branding is consistently memorable, innovative, and premium. This role reports to the Head, Marketing + Communications, and will eventually be based out of our Los Angeles office.


  • Serve as lead designer, and own the LOL creative direction and execution of the visual brand, and create and maintain a consistent visual voice for brand assets across platforms
  • Manage the design team and provide clear communication, leadership, and motivation to produce high-level creative
  • Direct the concept, and lead day to day design, of all marketing assets, including digital and print assets and campaign concepts
  • Manage projects including promos, graphics, and show packaging and creation of additional content for digital, online, social media and VOD platforms from concept to completion
  • Provide constructive feedback to graphic designers, editors, third-party agencies, and social team to ensure delivery of the highest quality—and brand relevant—work
  • Support leadership through the design and development of new business initiatives and presentations
  • Work with production, studios, and other division leads to create any needed graphics for our original series including, but not limited to, one-sheets, logos, style guides, mood boards, infographics, illustrations, image-treatments, etc
  • Develop unique, compelling, and innovative campaigns that move the LOL brand forward
  • Create memorable key art and designs for our series, podcasts, audiobooks, and other brand initiatives
  • Manage project budgets and resourcing, always seeking to derive value and excellence from finite resourcing
  • Work with the brands partnerships team to create the look and feel of sales collateral pitch decks for RFP responses, proactive pitches, and inbound requests
  • Develop work that is consistent with a brand's personality and differentiates LOL from the competition
  • Work fast, work hard, and have the ability to steer projects from ideas to activation, effectively completing projects of high quality within timeframe and budget
  • Deliver fresh thinking, innovative creative solutions, and impactful visual storytelling
  • Other design requirements as necessary


  • 10+ years' experience in the Graphic Design field
  • An excellent design portfolio with examples of branding and identity is mandatory
  • Strong written, visual, and oral communication skills; able to prepare collateral and deliverables for senior management team
  • Strong working knowledge of the full Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere. After Effects is a plus!
  • Superior organizational skills, time management, and the ability to multi-manage and work under quick deadlines
  • Mastery of design principles and skills in animation and typography, color theory and balance typography, imagery, and composition
  • Experience designing for a variety of platforms
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail and a great eye for design
  • Proficient Mac user
  • Degree in graphic arts, visual arts, or a related creative field
  • Approachable, collaborative, results-oriented, problem-solver who can work with minimal direction, evaluating best practices and offering effective solutions
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal – not afraid to have difficult discussions
  • Great sense of humor, can-do attitude, and flexible with demands of a fast-paced environment
  • Multicultural marketing and/or content experience, strongly preferred
  • Ability to quickly pitch and execute innovative, next level concepts
  • Some overtime and weekends required
